The Witch

She said it was the witch that hurt her eyes.
Despite the gloom, she wears blue glasses.
A far-fetched tale from a mind that fetches far
reaches into the colours between the stars
hears a jackdaw’s claw on the rim of a chimney pot.
Sees the words before they find a mouth.
You know I’ve no reason to doubt her.
