Those must have been the good centuries. We're not sure. We couldn't be bothered waiting around to ask.
ReplyDelete(Put in mind of the wry report of the college gardener @ Gonville & Caius, c. 1964, telling of the American summer tourists enviously inspecting the college lawn and asking, "How do you get it to grow so...orderly, like that?" And his retort, "Well, see, you just plant it, and water it...for eight or nine centuries.")
I'm working on the same principle with my garden. I'm optimistic: good centuries are on their way. Thanks for reading Tom.
