Rain Wouldn't Confine Me

rain wouldn’t confine me
with everyone indoors watching TV
taking things from the oven
or mending things with tools
from the toolbox I’d be out there
in my coat waiting under the eaves

I remember that coat – a parka
navy blue with Eskimo fringe
orange lining bright as a
traffic cone my name inside
written in black marker
pen rain wouldn’t confine me
